Kid-Friendly Easter Activities
Easter is a great time to decorate baskets, color eggs, making chocolates, and having Easter egg hunts. We’ve gathered up some of the best Easter activities that will be sure to delight both you and your little ones.
- DIY Natural Flower Pots
What better way to teach the kids about recycling and being environmentally conscious than making flower pots out of eggshells. The natural casing of the egg makes for the perfect pot for starting spring flowers or vegetables.
Once the plants get big enough, simply stick them in the ground without removing them from their shell pots. As an added bit of fun, use labels and coffee stirrers to make tags to help you identify the plants.
Flowers will provide color and enjoyment all season, or test your green thumb out with vegetables that the whole family can enjoy at the dinner table.
- Surprise Friends and Loved Ones with Easter Greetings
Not only will this activity bring out everyone’s creative side, but it will also allow for some excellent handwriting practice too!
Since kids already know how to write letters to Santa, why not have them address a couple to the Easter Bunny as well? Or, if that’s not your thing, have them write letters to aunts, uncles or grandparents, all of who will appreciate the thought.
Using plain white envelopes as a base, create ears and eyes out of construction paper, then use a cotton ball or fuzzy dot for the nose and tail. Draw in some whiskers, and your bunny is complete! Simply fill the envelope in with a letter and some small Easter candies.
- Edible Spring Flowers
Don’t go out and buy special Easter serving plates for small candy when you and your little ones can make them right at home. This easy craft will add charm to any Easter get-together. Using different colored construction paper, cut out flower designs. Next, take a clean cupcake wrapper and glue it in the center. Once the glue is dried, add in some jellybeans or other type of sweet Easter treat. You and your kids will have a great time coming up with different and interesting floral designs for the table.

If you’re planning an Easter egg hunt, it’s a good idea to make those eggs something special worth searching for. Since all kids like to play with stickers, this activity is sure to be a hit. Once you’ve got all of your plastic eggs filled with treats and surprises, simply place stickers all over the eggs. This is especially helpful to hold the seams of the eggs together so that what’s inside stays inside. Everyone loves to play Tic-Tac-Toe. This simple game is even more simple to make. All you need is a piece of construction paper for the base, four flat wooden sticks to make the squares, and a handful of wood chips that you can paint, stamp, or decorate your favorite Easter design on. Once the board is assembled, go ahead and spend some quality time playing with your kids.

This Easter tradition differs from culture to culture but packs a lot of fun. To begin, simply boil some eggs to decorate. Once decorated, pack them up and take both the eggs and your family to the biggest hill you can find. Once there, everyone takes a turn rolling an egg down the hill. The person who’s eggs has gone the farthest, wins!

Instead of a simple Easter egg hunt, why not turn it into an Easter Obstacle Course? It’s easy to set up a small obstacle course in the backyard. Give the course an Easter theme by including lots of egg throwing and catching, hopping, eggs on spoons, and hard-boiled egg bowling.
